Munro Live, a car dismantling & analysis expert, recently released the first dismantling video of the Tesla Model Y, which is made in Texas and uses a 4680 CTC battery-chassis integrated design. There are some very interesting technical details, let’s take a look.

4680 battery version of Tesla Model Y dismantling: battery pack and seat integration, significant weight reduction
The video shows the seats, center console and carpet/trimming, etc., all attached to the new battery pack and removed together, a first in the automotive industry, helping to dramatically increase production efficiency. In addition, another benefit of the high level of integration is the substantial weight reduction. The entire battery pack of the 4680 CTC Model Y + high and low voltage + center console + seat + carpet weighs only 544kg. For comparison, the BYD Seal, which also uses CTC technology, weighs 560/558kg for a single 82.56-kWh battery pack.

In addition, the center console adopts rail sliding installation, which is easier to assemble, and can be fixed with 2 screws. The various components are highly integrated with giant cast components (front and rear) to further reduce the number of parts, reduce costs and buy keyword installs improve assembly efficiency.
IT House learned that the Model Y produced in the Texas factory is currently Tesla’s most advanced product. It uses the three cutting-edge technologies of CTC technology (the technology of directly installing the battery cell to the chassis), 4680 battery and one-piece die-casting, which can significantly reduce the production and assembly difficulty and cost of the vehicle, and improve the performance.
